Hosepipe Ban Effective From Today in Esher

It's not exactly sweltering at the moment - not the sort of day that lends itself to washing the car, cooling the kids down in a paddling pool or watering the plants, but as of today you are not allowed to use your hosepipe in Esher. People in Esher and other parts of Elmbridge caught using a sprinkler or hosepipe could face prosecution. Veolia Water Central, Thames Water and Sutton and East Surrey Water have announced restrictions as a result of the drought. Groundwater levels in the region are now at an all time low and we still haven't had any significant rain.

So how will this affect you? Well, you can still wash your car with a bucket and water the garden with a watering can. Commerical users such as car washes and window cleaners will be exempt as will national and international sporting events - that would be the 2012 Olympics, I imagine! Also, people with severe mobility problems who hold a current Blue Badge as issued by their local authority
