Thames Ditton Infants School in Speer Road has been awarded the Quality Mark for being an outstanding Values-based school. Dr Neil Hawkes, of Values-based Education, found that the school had, 'successfully embedded Values Education across the curriculum and that pupils were very articulate about the positive effects of their values work'. He added, 'I had a memorable visit to Thames Ditton Infant School and saw outstanding values and pedagogical practice'.

Dr Hawkes believes that Values-based education nurtures values such as respect, honesty, compassion, trust and integrity, promoting high academic standards while bringing out the best in individuals.

Julie McCallum-Allen, Headmistress, said, 'Our school is extremely proud of our Values Award for outstanding work in the use of Values in school. The Values programme plays a significant role in everything we do in our school and it is down to the commitment of all the staff pupils and governors that helped us attain this award.'

Thames Ditton Infants School joins a growing number of Surrey schools that have gained the award.
