Get Set for the Olympic Time Trials in Esher this Wednesday 31st July
So what is the Time Trial? Well, the Women's Individual Time Trials begin at approximately 12.30pm - 13.45 and the Men's Individual Time Trials are between 14.12 - 16.05. In the Time Trials, cyclists start at 90 second intervals and the one to complete the course in the shortest time is the winner. From a spectator's point of view there will be a better opportunity to see the cyclists compared to the weekend's events, when they whooshed past quicker than you could say 'where's my camera?'. Be prepared for more travel disruption and make sure you've got plenty of essentials in - milk, bread, beer and wine etc. The rehearsal on 31st July will result in some road closures between 10am and 2pm. Then, on 1st August initial road closures will begin at 5.30am. Roads include the Portsmouth Road all the way from Cobham to Kingston; Hampton Court Way to Weston Green Road; and Weston Green Road across the common continuing along Lower Green Road. Hampton Court Road, north of the roundabout near Bushy Park, will be closed from 10pm on July 31st until 5.30am on 2nd August and the southbund A3 exit slip at Painshill near Cobham will be closed from 8.30am on 1st August.
